Hello All

I have been wondering if any others have been having the same symptoms as me with respect to heightened senses i.e. hearing and smell? I find that I can't bear certain noises or smells at the moment. Morning Traffic noise from a motorway nearby is driving me crazy and certain perfumes or other smells can trigger off an anxiety attack as can some noises. Is it just a result of my anxiety state at the moment? I opened a tin of chocolates at work the other day and the smell set me off! Am I just being a bit freaky or does if affect others in this way?

Hi Summer, do you take AD's? I think these can have an effect on your sense of smell etc.

Hi Piglet

Yes, I'm on the AD's again this year after not having to resort to them for the last 10 years. Another reason for coming off them as soon as poss then!

I hate noise on the whole. I don't mind if there is soft music, or a radio programme that I find interesting, but I hate noisy environments. I don't think this is anything to with the med, I'm like this all /most of the time

I am not on any meds, but it seems that all 5 of my senses are overly sensitive. I jokingly tell people that if I were a superhero I would be "Mr super-hyper actute sense guy." Even simple things like a hand resting on me begins to hurt after just a little while. It seems that everyone talks too loudly, to the point that my ears hurt. I even heard a mosquito flying about 15 feet over my head. Sometimes I think I'm going crazy, or that I have autism. I can smell when a person has smoked as far back as 2 days before. It is the sense of touch that kills me most. i can't get comfortable. Everything seems to hurt eventually... like there is a build-up of sensory stimulous that I cannot ignore like most people.
Can anyone offer helpful suggestions?
