The best way to lighten up

A staggering 5 million people in the UK suffer from SAD or the milder version, winter blues. Despite these figures there is still uncertainty amongst sufferers about how best to treat this winter time condition.

However, many of our customers got in touch with us again this winter to say how our various light therapy products have dramatically improved their SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) symptoms and helped them get on with their lives. In fact, in a recent survey 90% of our customers said that our lights or dawn simulators have helped to ease their winter blues/SAD symptoms.

Furthermore, in a recent survey of GPs*, an encouraging 72% said they had recommended light therapy to a patient with SAD. However, anti-depressants remain the most common approach to treatment. Last year, clinical trials compared Prozac with bright light therapy and found not only were they were equally effective in treating SAD, but light therapy produced noticeable benefits more quickly and was well-tolerated whereas some subjects taking Prozac experienced agitation, sleep disturbances and palpitations (Am J Psychiatry 2006 May;163(5):805-12).

So why choose light therapy?

  • Natural, non-invasive approach with virtually no side effects
  • Cost-effective, long-term option
  • Established treatment supported by clinical evidence
  • Patients are able to self-manage the problem
  • All products are available on 30-day Home Trial
  • .

Light therapy is an effective, safe and natural way to help relieve the symptoms caused by SAD and the winter blues.
